Welcome!

A warm word of welcome to this website! I trust you will not only come to know me better, but will find the visit enriching and helpful for yourself.

The goal in my teaching ministry and as a pastor-scholar is that the congregation and students would study the Bible in both a devotional and scholarly manner.

In addition, I agree with
Alexander Campbell, the founder of the movement of churches which I serve as a pastor, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), as he wrote,

"I have no idea of adding to the catalogue of new sects. I labor to see sectarianism abolished and all Christians of every name united upon the one foundation upon which the apostolic church was founded."

Dear Trinity family and friends,

On Monday, March 20 at 5:24pm, the first day of spring arrived in Lower Burrell for 2023!
Spring is a season that reminds us of new beginnings, growth, and transformation that are possible in our lives. Soon you will see blooming gardens and witness the amazing colors of nature. These things point to the incredible beauty of God’s creation.

In this season of spring renewal, let us reflect on our own journey of growth. We too need to cultivate faith, hope, and love for others. Of course, the most important aspect of spring is remembering the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us. His resurrection reminds us that even in the darkest of moments of life, there is hope for a new life and beginning!

This week I am praying for God’s abundant blessings over you in this time of new beginnings (John 10:10).

3. This week in worship
Remember the song we used to sing at our church camp Laurelview in Somerest County...

I know it brother, brother,
Indeed I know it brother, I know it HEY!
Dem bones, gonna rise again

The Lord he thought he'd make a man.
DEM BONES GONNA RISE AGAIN!
So he made Adam cordin' to a plan.
DEM BONES GONNA RISE AGAIN!

Bones...they are the inner structure of our body that holds us together. Their importance cannot be denied. Even in hiding, we recognize their worth. Symbolically, to a kind person, we say you don’t have a mean bone in your body. Bones shape who we are and reveal our nature. Bones are found in our innermost selves – when we experience hurt and deep wounds, we’re cut to the bone. When we have a certainty about something, we say we know it in our bones.

Ezekiel was a prophet who had many visions. This vision of the valley of dry bones speaks to all of us. God told Ezekiel in this vision to speak to the valley of dry bones and call them to life. The Lord said to the prophet,

"Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!'"

Immediately, the bones came to life. Do you need a word from the Lord? How about hope in life? I invite you this Sunday to hear the word of Lord and be brought to life. The Holy Spirit was the breath of life that brought the bones together. I would like to pray for the Spirit to fill you and bring your hopes, dreams, and mission back to life. Read Ezekiel 37:1-14 to prepare for worship.
